Archive of an international electronic mailing list. This is what the editors have to say about the list:

Our forum for the discussion of topics relevant
to German-American and German-Canadian Studies from the 17th century to
the present will now focus on the German diaspora and intercultural
transfer between German and non-German societies not only in North America
but also on other continents. This broader purview will continue to
involve disciplines such as history, geography, migration studies,
ethnology, anthropology, linguistics, and literary and cultural studies.
Discussion topics may encompass the invention or transformation of hybrid
identities, patterns of settlement, patterns of maintenance and change in
language and culture, civic participation, cultural influences and
transfers, and the experience of migrants in Germany. As stated in the new
mission statement, we "emphasize the value of comparative, transnational,
and transfer studies as well as the idea of cultural regions."
